Description:First minute book of the Committee for the formation of the Botanic Garden, with Francis as Secretary, later known as the Botanic Garden Committee, 8 March 1855 - 30 June 1865, including his letter of acceptance [pages 1-161]. Photocopy and original records including correspondence, photographs, reports and family information pertaining to the biography of G.W. Francis published by Barbara Best, 1986; overall dates 1826-1865 and later [20 files, P4-1]. An oil portrait by his eldest daughter, Emma Louise, and presented to the Board of Governors in 1887 hangs in the foyer of the Administration building.
