Abraham David Yoffe worked for the CSIR Lubricants and Bearings Section from 1941-45. He spent most of the remainder of his career at the University of Cambridge.

Born Jerusalem, Palestine, 26 November 1919. Educated Universities of Melbourne (BSc 1940, MSc 1941) and Cambridge (PhD 1948, ScD 1961). CSIR Lubricants and Bearings Section 1941-45, research fellow in physical chemistry, University of Cambridge 1948-50, 1954-56; senior scientist, Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel 1951-54; assistant director of research, Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge 1956-68; reader in physics 1968-.
