Neville Thomas Yeomans set up Fraser House in Sydney in 1959.This was Australia’s first family-based centre for treating neurosis and alcohol and drug addiction. The centre catered for over 80 residents, including children. From 1967 Yeomans was Co-ordinator of Community Mental Health Services, New South Wales Department of Public Health. He was a strong believer in community-based care and worked for many years with Aboriginal and Islander populations |
