Born: 9 December 1899  Wakefield, Yorkshire, England.  Died: 17 March 1986.
(Sir) C. Maurice Yonge led the Great Barrier Reef Expedition in 1928-9.

Baxter Natural Science Scholar 1922-24; Carnegie Research Scholar 1924-25; Temporary Assistant Naturalist, Marine Biological Association, Plymouth 1925-27; Balfour Student, University of Cambridge 1927-29; leader, Great Barrier Reef Expedition 1928-29; physiologist, Marine Biological Association, Plymouth 1930-32; professor of zoology, University of Bristol 1933-34; Regius professor of zoology, University of Glasgow 1944-64, research fellow in zoology 1965-70. Fellow, Royal Society 1946, Makdougall-Brisbane Prize, Royal Society of Edinburgh 1957, Darwin Medal, Royal Society 1968. President, Section D, British Association 1961, president, Royal Society of Edinburgh 1970-73.
