Fishbourne, John William Yorke (1843 - 1911)

Born: December 1843  Wicklow, Ireland.  Died: 26 September 1911  Moonee Ponds, Victoria, Australia.
John William Y. Fishbourne worked in asylums in Ararat and Kew, as well as private practice. He was the founder of the Talbot Colony (later known as the Royal Talbot Centre). Established St Aidan's, a school for mentally handicapped children.

1886 - 1893Health Officer for Essendon, Victoria
1893Turned his Moonee Ponds home St Aiden’s into a school for mentally disabled children
1906Founder of the Talbot Colony for Epileptics, now the Royal Talbot Centre
