Born: 11 July 1853 Pisa, Italy. Died: 19 July 1946 Hampton, Victoria, Australia. | |
Ettore Checchi was chief engineering officer, Victorian State Rivers and Water Supply Commission 1906-26. His technical data on harnessing the River Murray formed the basis of the River Murray agreement of 1925 between the three neighbouring States and the Commonwealth. |

Draftsman, Department of Lands and Survey 1876-82; engineering draughtsman, Public Works Department 1882-87, assistant engineer 1887-88; superviser of water-trusts and minor works, Department of Water Supply 1889, in charge of river-gaugings and measurements of water 1889-1906; State Rivers and Water Supply Commission 1906-26. |
