McKeon, Gwladys Yvonne (1897 - 1979)

Born: 23 August 1897  Llanelly, Wales.  Died: 15 August 1979  Kedron, Queensland, Australia.
Gwladys Yvonne McKeon was a biologist with a passion for Australia's marine environment. She worked for the government Cattle Tick Investigation Committee and the Australian Hookworm Campaign, but had to retire once she married. When the family moved to Harvey Bay, McKeon began collecting a vast array of marine flora and fauna specimens. These were sent to many Australian research institutes and museums. In 1966 she wrote and illustrated the book Life on the Australian Seashore.
