Born: 12 August 1928.  Died: 6 September 2002  Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
Donald Clayton (Don) Vernon joined the Conzinc Riotinto of Australia Ltd group in 1953, having worked for the Colonial Sugar Refining Company (CSR) since 1945. He worked at the controversial copper-gold mine in the mountains of Bougainville, later becoming a director of Bougainville Copper Ltd.
