Born: 25 February 1908  Peterborough, South Australia, Australia
Edith Dorothy K. Butler trained as a nurse at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where she was later staff sister. She was awarded the Royal Red Cross in 1945 in recognition of her work in the Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) in the south-west Pacific area.
