Sutton, John (1866 - 1938)

Born: 25 March 1866  Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia.  Died: 22 November 1938.
John Sutton served as Assistant Honorary Ornithologist, South Australian Museum 1923-34 and Honorary Curator in Ornithology 1934-38, spending every afternoon at the Museum and registering, cataloguing and storing about 15,000 specimens.

Career Highlights
Born Castlemaine, Victoria, 25 March 1866. Died 22 November 1938. Banker by profession; sometime Acting Manager, National Bank, Adelaide; Inspector, Melbourne till 1917; retired 1917 and returned to Adelaide, where he acted as Lecturer in Banking at the University of Adelaide; Honorary Secretary, South Australian Ornithological Association 1922-38 (the longest continually serving officer in the SAOA) and a member of the Editorial Committee for South Australian Ornithologist for 11 years.
