Bird collecting, North Finland and Newfoundland; war service in RAF; Science Assistant to the Director, Kaffarian Museum, South Africa 1946-48; Cotton Research Station, East Africa 1948-53; applied biologist, East Africa 1953-62, studying the biology of various injurious birds and mammals; Curator of Ornithology, Australian Museum from 1962, Research Associate after retirement.
