Born Warragul, Gippsland, Victoria, 10 October 1896. Died Melbourne, 22 April 1967. Educated Austral Business College, Melbourne. Clerk, Stamp Duties Office, Treasury Department 1914 until retirement. Honorary General Secretary, Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union 1924-51, Honorary Librarian for 16 years, and Honorary Life Member from 1932. His interests were field ornithology (with a particular interest in hawks) and history of ornithology in Australia, especially Victoria and he had a valuable collection of ornithological books. Wrote 'The First Fifty Years of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union – 1901-1951', published in The Emu in 1951. |
