Brian Gordon Collins is Dean of Science at Curtin University. He has been on a number of Western Australian government advisory committees, particularly in the area of conservation. His main ornithological interest is in the nectar-feeding birds, especially their foraging behaviour, energetics and importance as pollinators of flowering plants. |

Science and mathematics teacher, Victorian secondary schools 1959-66; lecturer in biology, Monash Teachers' College 1967; senior lecturer in biology/physiology, Pharmacy Department, Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT) 1968-73; principal lecturer and head, Department of Biology, WAIT / Curtin University of Technology 1974-80, professor and head, School of Environmental Biology, Curtin University of Technology 1981-98, Dean of Science 1999 to date. President, Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union 1989-95; president, Australasian Pollination Ecologists' Society ca 1999. |
