Elsworth, Frank Cadwallader (1907 - 1973)

 
Food technologist
Born: 16 February 1907  Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.  Died: 1973.
Frank Cadwallader Elsworth was Managing Director of Dewey and Almy Pty Ltd (later W R Grace Australia Limited) from 1945-72, and its Chairman of Directors from 1967. He was instrumental in starting subsidiaries in New Zealand, South Africa, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Japan. He was a Director of each subsidiary, as well as Regional Director for the company in the Pacific and Far East. Elsworth began his career in food technology as Chief Chemist and later Technical Director of The Henry Jones Sons Group of Companies (1929-41). At the onset of war he was seconded by the Australian government to become Executive Assistant to the Director General, Australian War Supplies Procurement in Washington DC (1941-45). Throughout his career he also served on many international food committees.
