David Samuel Rosengarten was Chairman of Surgery and Clinical Support and head of the Vascular Unit at the Alfred Hospital in Victoria from 1989. He was a pioneer in techniques to prevent patients getting blood clots during surgery. After completing his undergraduate studies, Rosengarten eventually travelled overseas for further training. During this time he spent three months on the Alfred Hospital Australian Civil Surgical Team at Ben Hoa in Vietnam and three years at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School Hospital in Hammersmith. Upon his return to Australia, Rosengarten worked as assistant general-surgeon at the Alfred Hospital and lecturer of surgery at Monash University. In 1974 he and others established the Alfred Hospital Vascular Unit and became supervisor of surgical training at the Alfred Hospital. |
