Born: 1844  Kirkintilloch, Dumbartonshire, Scotland.  Died: 31 March 1898  Parkville, Victoria, Australia.
David Munro ran an engineering and machinery supply business in Melbourne in the 1870s and 1880s. During this period he was contracted to build a number of Victorian railway lines, Princes Bridge (1888) and Queen's Bridge (1890). He sold all sorts of equipment, including his patented or improved machines, including a post-boring machine and the "Victory Self-adjusting Windmill". Heavy speculation in land led Munro to bankruptcy in the land boom collapse of the late 1880s.
