Born: 27 March 1892  Maffra, Victoria, Australia
Alexander William Jessep was Director, Melbourne Botanic Gardens and Government Botanist of Victoria 1941-57. He was formerly Principal, Burnley Horticultural College, Melbourne 1926-41. Jessep studeid at the University of Melbourne and Marshall College, Scotland (MAgrSc, BSc, Dip Ed) and served with the 1st Australian Imperial Force.
