Born: 16 August 1885  Ulvertsone, Tasmania, Australia.  Died: 13 October 1979  Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.
Born Ulverstone, Tasmania, 16 August 1885. Died Launceston, Tasmania, 13 October 1979. OBE 1946. Clerk, South British Insurance Co., Launceston 1902-12; manager, Launceston branch, Atlas Assurance Co. 1912-62; conducted Tasmanian Finance & Agency Co. Keen bushwalker who publicised the Tasmanian wilderness and promoted the establishment of reserves through talks, broadcasts, written accounts and photographs. From the 1920s he gave lantern lectures in various States on behalf of the Tasmanian government to encourage tourism; organised the Tasmanian display, Melbourne Centenary Exhibition 1935. Chairman, Scenery Preservation Board 1941-71; member, Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair, Barrow Reserve and Northern Scenery boards.
