Robert Oliver Chalmers started work at the Australian Museum in Sydney, as a cadet in 1929 eventually working as the Museum's mineralogist. He was interested in gemstones as minerals; studied the salt crust surface of Lake Eyre; discovered Australite localities and was educated in geology at Sydney Technical College. |
