Charles Henry B. (Bill) Priestley was Chief of the Division of Meteorological Physics, CSIRO, 1946-1973.

Born 8 July 1915. Died 18 May 1998. Fellow, Australian Academy of Science 1954, Fellow, Royal Society 1967. MA, ScD. British Meteorological Office, 1939-1946. Arrived Australia 1946 to take up position of Chief, Division of Meteorological Physics, CSIRO, 1946-1973. Received the World Meteorological Organization's IMO Prize in 1973, and awarded American Meteorological Society's Rossby Research Medal in 1974. Retired in 1973 and became Chairman of CSIRO Environmental Physics Research Laboratories, 1973-1977, and part-time Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Monash University.
