Born: 4 November 1900  Austria.  Died: 21 November 1998.
(Sir) Otto Herzberg Frankel was Chief, Division of Plant Industry, CSIRO, Canberra 1951-62, a member of the Executive 1962-66 and, from 1966, has worked as an honorary research fellow in the Division of Plant Industry.

Wheat breeder, Czechoslovakia 1925-26, Animal science project, Palestine 1927, oats work in Cambridge 1928, plant breeder and geneticist, New Zealand 1929-41, Director, Wheat Research Institute, New Zealand 1942-49, Director, Crop Research Division, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Zealand 1950-51, Chief, Division of Plant Industry, CSIRO 1951-62, Member of Executive, CSIRO 1962-66, Honorary Research Fellow, Division of Plant Industry, CSIRO 1966 - ca 1994. President, International Genetics Federation, ca 1970s. Fellow, Royal Society 1953, Fellow, Australian Academy of Science 1954, Fellow, Royal Society of New Zealand, Honorary Member, The Japan Academy.
