Born: 25 March 1891  Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia.  Died: 14 December 1959  Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
Arthur Burkitt was Professor of Anatomy, University of Sydney 1925-55. He was fluent in several languages and assisted students by translating for them.

Career Highlights
Born Goulburn, New South Wales, 25 March 1891. Died Sydney, 14 December 1959. Educated University of Sydney (BSc 1910, MB 1916). Resident, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital 1917; part-time demonstrator in anatomy, University of Sydney 1918; surgeon lieutenant, Royal Australian Navy 1918-19; lecturer and demonstrator, anatomy department, University of Sydney 1919-24; associate-professor 1925; Challis professor of anatomy 1926-55. Provided a major collection of European scientific literature which provided the basis of the Burkitt Library in the faculty of medicine.
