Leonard Terry was the diocesan architect for the Anglican Church in Victoria and designed most of their churches from 1860 to 1875. He also designed many Roman Catholic Churches and was supervising architect for St Paul's Cathedral. Banks were another of Terry's specialties. In 1858 he won a competition for the design of the London Bank's Melbourne office and later went on to design at least fifty other banks. These were mostly in Victoria, but also in Tasmania, Western Australia and New Zealand. Other projects Terry designed include the Melbourne Club (1858), James McEwan & Co. ironmongery warehouse (1869) and the remodeled Monster Clothing Co. building in Bourke Street. |
