Stewart, John (1810 - 1896)

Veterinary surgeon and Politician
Born: October 1810  Northumberland, England.  Died: 30 July 1896  Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
John Stewart was Professor of Veterinary Medicine at the Andersonian University, Glasgow 1834-40. In 1841 he set up a practice in Sydney but moved to Wollongong in 1852. He entered politics in 1860 and won his first election in 1866. He retired to Sydney.
