- Why are there not enough jobs for Science Graduates?
- Suggested measures/initiatives:
- What can be done to prevent/reverse the brain drain?
- How to make the community more aware of the problems and
Government more responsive in order to help solve the problems?
7 November 1997: HKAAST forum on
Industrial Policy and Technology Transfer
A forum on “Industrial Policy & Technology Transfer — An Asia-Pacific
Perspective” will be held on Friday 7th November 1997 at Kowloon Shangri-La
Hotel from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Forum aims to provide a platform for
industrialists, business leaders, policy makers and academics to share
insights and to discuss the strategies which developed and developing
countries should adopt to sustain their industrial development. Special
emphasis will be put on the role of government in promoting technology
transfer in Hong Kong so as to speed up the transformation of local industry
to a high value-added and high technology horizon.
The Forum is structured in four parts:
- The first session is a keynote presentation session whereby speakers
from PR China, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea will speak on the
experiences of industrial policy and technology transfer in Asian countries.
- The second session is held in form of a forum discussion. The
discussion panel is composed of chief executives from leading academic,
technological and industrial organizations to address on the opportunities
and strategies for Hong Kong industry.
- The Director-General of Industry will then host a luncheon talk to
address key issues on the development of Hong Kong industry.
- The afternoon session is an optional event open to all.
Representatives from government / professional bodies and entrepreneurs
based in Guangzhou and Shenzhen will be invited to lead a round-table
discussion on industrial and scientific collaboration between Hong Kong and
the Mainland.
