  5. Specialised Field of Research
  6. Passport number, Date and Place of Issue.
  7. Present Official and Residential Address, Telephone, Fax and E-mail Numbers.

IFAAST Symposium: “Science for Young Persons — Issues and Initiatives”
Some relevant points which may be highlighted in the discussions:
  • General Science Education
  • Education for specific disciplines/general scientific literacy or both
  • Identification of main problems such as
    • Why the Young People are not attracted to Science?
    • Why are there not enough jobs for Science Graduates?
  • Suggested measures/initiatives:
    • What can be done to prevent/reverse the brain drain?
    • How to make the community more aware of the problems and Government more responsive in order to help solve the problems?

7 November 1997: HKAAST forum on Industrial Policy and Technology Transfer
A forum on “Industrial Policy & Technology Transfer — An Asia-Pacific Perspective” will be held on Friday 7th November 1997 at Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Forum aims to provide a platform for industrialists, business leaders, policy makers and academics to share insights and to discuss the strategies which developed and developing countries should adopt to sustain their industrial development. Special emphasis will be put on the role of government in promoting technology transfer in Hong Kong so as to speed up the transformation of local industry to a high value-added and high technology horizon.

The Forum is structured in four parts:

28 September – 1 October 1997: ANZAAS Congress 97
In Adelaide. The theme for this Congress is The Advancement of Science in Developing Countries, and will be organised into three strands: Contact ANZAAS for more information.

7–12 September 1997: British Association 1997 Annual Meeting (Festival)
At the University of Leeds.

October 1996: Canberra meeting
