Voices of Australian Science & Technology

What is VAST?

VAST is a project dedicated to recording the working recollections of Australian scientists and technologists and ensuring that these records are stored and managed for posterity.

Why VAST?

Concrete memories of scientists and technologists who have worked in Australia provide unique access to the attitudes and expectations which shaped their work and life. Gathering these recollections and systematically analysing them is essential for a full understanding of Australian cultural and intellectual history and will be useful for an appraisal of the various factors affecting the production of current scientific and technical knowledge in Australia.

Whose Voices?

VAST wishes to interview former scientists and technologists from the public and private sector.

Research Potential

The VAST project will facilitate and enhance on-going research into the place of science and technology in Australian culture.
