Born Melbourne 23 April 1893; died Melbourne 30 January 1979. Education University of Melbourne (B.Sc. 1913, D.Sc. 1919). Lecturer in chemistry at the University of Melbourne 1919-24; associate professor 1924-27; professor 1927-54. Syme Prize 1926. President of the Australian Chemistry Institute 1928.
