Hocking, David Roy (Dave) (1920 - 2000)

 
Surveyor and Cartographer
Born: 18 August 1920.  Died: 14 november 2000.
David Roy (Dave) Hocking was responsible for surveying and mapping much of Australia during his thirty-seven years service with the Commonwealth Government Department of National Mapping (NATMAP). He also served on many industry bodies and was Australia’s representative at many major international congresses and committees. After his retirement from the Department in 1985 Hocking joined the Association of Aerial Surveyors, Australia Inc. (AASA). He gave a further twelve years service there and became executive director of AASA.

1966 - 1969Chief Draftsman with the OIC Photogrammetric Drafting Branch
1969 - 1980Surveyor with Technical Services, Special Projects, Compilation Development, NATMAP
1970Associate Diploma in Land Surveying completed at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology
1980 - 1985Chief Project Surveyor with NATMAP
1989Certificate of Competency in Surveying completed and became a registered surveyor
