| Elizabeth Frances Coxen was a naturalist and meteorologist who, together with her husband Charles, donated many natural history specimens to the Queensland Museum. She did a lot of collecting of shells, birds and insects in her own right. After her husbands death she continued her collecting and became the first female elected a member of the Royal Society of Queensland. Coxen also prepared monthly weather reports of the local area which were also given to the Museum. She is commemorated by the snail Spurlingia coxeanea. |
