Hurst, Charles Angas (1923 - )

Charles Angas Hurst is Emeritus Professor in the Department of Physics and Mathematical Physics at the University of Adelaide. He first joined the University in 1957 and has held many senior administrative positions there. Prior to arriving in Adelaide, Hurst was a Lecturer at the University of Melbourne (1952 to 1956), which is where he earlier completed his tertiary studies. Throughout his career, Hurst has published widely on many aspects of Mathematical Physics and has built up an international reputation in the field. He has spent many years working as a Visiting Fellow at many prestigious international institutes, only some of which are recorded below. Apart from lecturing and research, Hurst has been heavily involved with the Australian Academy of Science and the Australian Institute of Physics for decades: he is a Fellow of both organizations. During World War II, Charles Angas Hurst was a Flight Lieutenant with the Royal Australian Air Force.
