Born: 1 May 1938 Adelaide, South Australia, Australia |
Robert Vincent Blanden is Professor and Leader of the Immunology Group at the John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University. He is an internationally recognised expert in cell-mediated immune responses and has made ground breaking discoveries which challenge aspects of the theory of evolution. In 1994 Blanden and colleagues showed that introduced changes to the immune system of a mouse can be passed on to the next generation. Thus concluding that this type of somatic selection can exist along side Darwin’s theory of natural selection. |
