Yvonne M. Barr was a co-founder of the human herpes virus 4, which is now more commonly known as the Epstein-Barr virus. The discovery was made in 1964 at Middlesex Hospital, as part of her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) research. Barr’s supervisor was Michael Anthony Epstein, a leading English pathologist and virologist. After completing her studies, Barr settled in Australia. |
