Allan A. Davidson was a pioneering geologist who helped develop goldmining in Australia. He discovered that ore from the Kalgoorlie area, which was treated as waste, actually contained sizable amounts of useable gold. This led to the development of telluride processing in the Western Australian goldfields. Davidson discovered many other rich goldbearing belts across Australia and delivered some of his findings in the South Australian Parliamentary paper of 1905 Journal of Explorations in Central Australia. This has since been republished by the Friends of the State Library of South Australia (2005). |
