Mitchell, Ruby Frances (Mitch) (1916 - 2001)

Born: 29 July 1916  Albury, New South Wales, Australia.  Died: 10 July 2001  Victoria, Australia.
Ruby Frances Mitchell or Mitch, gained certificates in nursing, midwifery and infant welfare. She began her nurse training at the Gundagai Hospital before seeking qualifications at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne. During World War II Mitchell held a variety of positions at the Alfred Hospital, including that of charge nurse. She continued to work at the hospital until her retirement in 1977, except for brief periods at the Darwin, Tamworth and Murwillumbah hospitals. She was an examiner with the Victorian Nurses' Board until 1970.
