Born: 3 April 1920  Port Augustus, South Australia, Australia.  Died: 17 April 2001  Australia.
James Henry Michael was one of Australia's leading pure mathematicians. He had a long-term association with the University of Adelaide and was Head of the Department of Pure Mathematics there from 1973.
