Scammell, Luther Robert (1858 - 1940)

Born: 20 March 1858  Port Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.  Died: 8 April 1940  North Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.
Luther Robert Scammel became a partner with the pharmacist, Francis H. Faulding (qv) in 1861. The firm, F.H. Faulding & Co. Ltd, were very inovative, being the first to import chloroform, distributing cocaine preparations in 1858, producing the first olive oil from South Australian olives in 1864 and producing antiseptics ('Solyptol') in 1867.

His son, William, worked in the accounts department of the firm and moved to Sydney in about 1908 as the manager of the New South Wales branch.
