Sawkins, Evan (1910 - )

Born: 29 July 1910 Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Evan Sawkins was the Deputy Director-General of the Postmaster-General's Department in the early 1970s. He was heavily involved in the construction of the Telecommunications Tower on Black Mountain in Canberra.

Born Sydney, 29 July 1910. OBE 1966. Educated University of Sydney (BSc). Engineer, Postmaster-General's Department 1934-54, Superintending Engineer for New South Wales 1954-57, Engineer-in-Chief, Headquarters, Melbourne 1957-63, Deputy Director-General from 1963. Leader, Australian Delegation to CCITT(International Consultative Committee for Telephony and Telegraphy) Fourth Plenary Assembly, Argentina 1968.
