Adrien Charles Mountain, a specialist in street paving, was city surveyor of both Sydney and Melbourne.

Career Highlights
Born c. 1849. Died Sherbrooke, Victoria, 23 September 1935. Arrived Australia as a boy; educated Sydney Grammar School; articled to W.C. Bennett, engineer; worked in office of city engineer of Sydney 1866-74; to office of John Witton engineer in chief for railways; became city surveyor Sydney, then city surveyor Melbourne 1888. President, Victorian Institute of Civil Engineers 1895; chairman, Municipal Engineering Examination Board.
