Born: 4 June 1937  Glusburn, Near Keighley, Yorkshire, United Kingdom
Richard Robson has been Reader/Associate Professor in Chemistry, University of Melbourne since 1992. His research is in the area of design, synthesis and characterisation of coordination nets. Early efforts with a vacant site between two metal atoms have given way to larger metal-organic networks in one, two and three dimensions. This work is laying the foundations for the tailor-made materials of the future.

Born Glusburn, Near Keighley, West Yorkshire, UK, 4 June 1937. Educated University of Oxford (BA 1959, DPhil 1962). Postdoctoral research, California Institute of Technology 1962-64; postdoctoral research, Stanford University 1964-65; Lecturer in chemistry, University of Melbourne 1966-70, Senior Lecturer 1970-92, Reader/Associate Professor 1992- . Burrows Award, Inorganic Division, Royal Australian Chemical Institute 1998; Fellow, Australian Academy of Science 2000.
