Martin, James (1821 - 1899)

Born: 23 April 1821  Foundry, Cornwall, England.  Died: 27 December 1899.
James Martin set up as a blacksmith and wheelwright in Gawler, South Australia in 1848. He soon became a manufacturer, making bullock drays, agricultural implements and other ironwork. He added railway rolling-stock and by December 1894 had delivered 100 locomotives.
