Knox, Edward (1819 - 1901)

Sugar pioneer and Bank Manager
Born: 6 June 1819  Helsingör, Denmark.  Died: 7 January 1901  Darling Point, New South Wales, Australia.
(Sir) Edward Knox was a director of the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney 1845-1901 and manager 1847-51. He was manager of the Australasian Sugar Company 1843-54 and in 1855 founded the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, of which he was the first chairman of directors, holding the post until 1901.
