Gilbert, J. M.

J. M. Gilbert was awarded a research fellowship by Australian Newsprint Mills Ltd in 1954 to undertake full-time study of eucalypt regeneration in the Derwent and Florentine Valleys in association with the University of Tasmania. He looked at wet forests with heavy understorey and after the publication of his PhD thesis in 1958 began organising and directing large-scale investigations into the practical implementation of his findings.
