Wynford Connick, who retired from his position as director of DSTO's Aeronautical and Maritime Research Laboratory in 1995, was at one stage of his career the leader of an expert team of explosive and propellant scientists.

Chief, Physical Chemical Division, Materials Research Laboratory 1972-83, Director 1983-92; Director, Aeronautical Research Laboratory 1992-94; Director, Aeronautical and Maritime Research Laboratory, Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO), Department of Defence 1994-95; consultant from 1995. Fellow, Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering 1988; Fellow, Royal Australian Chemical Institute.
