Meston, Leon Alexander (1878 - 1954)

 
Analytical chemist and Metallurgist
Born: 12 March 1878  Ipswich, Queensland, Australia.  Died: 9 November 1954.
Leon Alexander Meston joined the Queensland Government Analyst's Department in 1906, rising to Government Analyst and Chief Inspector of Explosives in 1941.

Born Ipswich, 12 March 1878. Died 9 November 1954. Educated University of Sydney (mining and science subjects 1898-99). Silverspur Mine, study at University of Sydney 1898-99, assayer and metallurgist, Silverspur Mine, wide experience in applied chemistry as assayer and metallurgist, cynide chemist and research at mines in Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia, chemist in charge of manufacture and special investigations officer, Bureau of Central Sugar Mills, water chemist, Brisbane Water Board, Queensland Government Analyst's Department from 1906, State Analyst from 1910, Senior Analyst from 1937, Government Analyst and Chief Inspector of Explosives from 1941.
