Born: 2 February 1930  Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.  Died: 28 October 1996.
Geoffrey Donald Thorburn, a reproductive physiologist, was Professor and Chairman, Department of Physiology, Monash University 1981-96. He originated chronic foetal catheterisation for studying the foetus in utero allowing, for the first time, assessment of the physiological, hormonal and biochemical status of the undisturbed foetus and growth-retarded foetus.
