Knox, Robert Bruce (Bruce) (1938 - 1997)

Born: 5 March 1938  Edinburgh, Scotland.  Died: 30 August 1997.
Robert Bruce (Bruce) Knox was Professor of Botany at the University of Melbourne 1974-97 and Co-director of the Plant Cell Biology Research Centre 1982-87. His research was centred on the reproductive systems of flowering plants.

Chairman, Victorian branch, Australian Society of Plant Physiologists 1974-76, President, Botany section, ANZAAS Hobart congress 1976, Chairman, Botany section, ANZAAS, Melbourne 1977, President, International Association for Sexual Plant Reproduction 1990-97. Fellow, Australian Academy of Science 1989. Co-editor of Biology, a textbook aimed at first year undergraduates, in 1995.
