| Born: 1 June 1924 Ardrossan, South Australia, Australia. Died: 31 December 1974. |
| William Walladge Mansfield spent most of his working life (1946-74) with CSIR/O Division of Industrial Chemistry. He undertook research in a variety of areas, including improvements to the wool scouring process, control of evaporation from water storages in hot, dry locations, techniques for dealing with accidental oil spillages at sea, polywater, and the physical chemistry, on a very large scale, of the atmosphere and oceans. |

Chairman, Physical Chemistry Group, Victorian Branch, Royal Australian Chemical Institute at the time of his death. |
