McCormick, John Thomas (1888 - 1951)

Born: 25 September 1888.  Died: 28 May 1951.
John Thomas McCormick was appointed in 1910 to the newly-established Chemical Adviser's Laboratory, Department of Defence, where he became Assistant Chemical Adviser in 1918. When the Research Laboratories at Maribyrnong were established, he became Assistant Superintendent, rising to Superintnedent 1934-47.

Research work, Australian Explosives Co., Chemical Adviser's Laboratory, Department of Defence 1910-ca 1920, Ordnance College, Woolwich 1913, Acting Chemical Adviser during World War I, Assistant Chemical Adviser 1918, Assistant Superintendent, Research Laboratories, Maribyrnong (later the Munitions Supply Laboratories) ca 1920-34, Superintendent 1934-47, visited England to survey developments in laboratory organisation and techniques resulting from the war 1922-24.
