Born: c. 1895  Oban, Scotland.  Died: 20 May 1957.
James Chalmers Hood spent most of his career in the Food, Drugs and Toxicology Section of the Government Chemical Laboratories, rising to Director of the laboratories in 1955.

Born Oban, Scotland, ca 1895. Died 20 May 1957. British Empire Medal. Educated Perth Technical College. Cadet, Explosives and Analytical Branch, Mines Department, Western Australia 1914, qualified as an analyst, H.M. Factory, Gretna and H.M. Factory, Sutton Oak 1917-ca 1919, Food, Drugs and Toxicology Section, Government Chemical Laboratories (chemist, Senior Chemist, acting Supervising Chemist, Deputy Government Analyst from ca 1946, director of the laboratories from 1955).
