Holmes, Bruce Morell (1916 - 1954)

 
Applied chemist
Born: 17 October 1916.  Died: 2 April 1954.
Bruce Morell Holmes worked for the CSIR/O Building Materials Research Section, then the CSIRO Division of Building Research 1946-1954. At the time of his death he was Senior Principal Research Officer of the Division of Building Research. He was interested in the deterioration of building materials in hot climates.

Educated University of Melbourne (BSc 1937, MSc 1939). CSIR (work on use of charcoal for producer gas), Commonwealth Government Explosives Factory, Works Executive Officer, J. Kitchen & Sons Pty Ltd, sub-lieutenant, later lieutenant of the Anti-Submarine Branch, R.A.N.V.R. 1942-1945, CSIR/O Building Materials Research Section (later Division) 1946-1950, CSIRO Division of Building Research 1950-1954.
